Important: If you want to edit these files manually, take care to edit the correct copy of the file. If you have used the PMIO Slideshow Wizard and you then edit the copy that was created in the Wizard's output folder, in some cases the next time you run the Wizard it will be replaced and your changes will be lost. The exception is pmiv$info.txt which is preserved by PMIO. All other text files are copied from the PMIO installation folder or created as follows:
| File | Notes | When created |
pmiv$files.txt | Created by PMIO | When Slideshow Wizard is run |
pmiv$info.txt | Edited by PMIO | When Slideshow Wizard is run |
pmiv$click.txt | Copied from PMIO folder | At PMIO installation |
pmiv$slideshow.txt | Copied from PMIO folder | At PMIO installation |
pmiv$language.txt | Copied from PMIO folder | At PMIO installation |
pmiv$script.txt | Created manually | When you make a scripted slideshow |
In the case of the files that are copied from PMIO folder you can edit the original copies in the PMIO installation folder and this will then affect all PMIV slideshows that you create with the Slideshow Wizard in the future. Alternatively, you can edit the copies that PMIO puts in the Wizard output folder but remember that your changes may disappear the next time you run the Slideshow Wizard.
As you can see, PMIV is fairly complex because it can do so much and is so configurable. Remember that you do not need to understand or remember any of this if you just want to use the Slideshow Wizard to make an auto-run CD. PMIO will take care of all the complexities for you. Things only get complicated when you start editing the configuration files manually, or when you want to write your own scripts.
