Hue is a term that describes the shade of a colour without giving any indication of its saturation or brightness. It is usually measured in degrees, as an angle around a circle, as the following diagram shows:

PMIO measures the average hue of every image it encounters while it is creating thumbnails. This information can be used to sort the thumbnails in the order of their overall colour.
