The Database Manager allows you to manage the PMIO database system.
The Database Manager
Assignments button
By default, the database is stored in:
<PMIO-installation-folder>\Data\Database
The Assignments button displays the Database Assignments dialog which allows you to assign different databases to different locations:
The Database Assignments dialog
To create and assign a new database to a specific folder location:
- Click the upper Add button. This will display the standard choose folder dialog from which you can choose a folder to add.
- The folder will appear in the Image folder drop-down list.
- Select a database folder from the Database folder drop-down list. If the database you want is not listed, click the lower Add button and choose the folder where you want to put the database. Remember that the Choose Folder dialog will let you create a new folder if you type its name in. The desired database folder should now appear in the Database folder drop-down list.
- Click the Assign button to make the assignment.
To unassign a database from a folder location it is assigned to:
- Select the folder from the Image folder drop-down list. The assigned database folder will appear in the Database folder drop-down list.
- Click the Unassign button.
Note: You will need to restart PMIO after making changes to the database assignments.
Tidy Database button
The Tidy Database button displays the Tidy Database dialog:
The Tidy Database dialog
- Choose Compact to perform a compaction operation. This removes unused information from the database to reduce its size. Note: The compaction operation cannot be cancelled.
- Choose Erase to completely erase all known PMIO databases. They will gradually be recreated over time.
After using either of these tidy functions, you will need to restart PMIO to complete the operation.
Tidy Catalogue button
This button allows you to tidy the catalogue which means that PMIO will check to see if each catalogued image still exists. If not, it will be removed from the catalogue. This function should be used periodically because it:
- Saves some disk space
- Speeds PMIO up somewhat
- Speeds up the Power Filter a lot.
Clicking this button will prompt you to make sure you really want to tidy the catalogue. This is because when the catalogue is large, tidying it can take a long time. Note: The tidy operation cannot be cancelled.
View Statistics button.
This button displays statistics about the database system.
